Gino Meloni (Varese, 1905 - Lissone, 1989), a painter and master of art educated under the guidance of Arturo Martini and Ambrogio Alciati, has been one of the major Lombard artists of XXth century. During his artistical career he has passed through various phases, from Expressionism to Informal art of the 60s, to finally reach a style enriching the humblest aspects of ordinary life with imaginary and fantastic tones.
This volume is articulated into a brief 'introduction', presenting ten significant works belonging to the main periods of Gino Meloni's career and a wide section devoted to a surveyt on his Informal production. The works presented reveal the great value of Meloni's Informal works: it is not by chance if this phase of the master, though less studied by Italian critics and rarely known by the wide public, is particularly appreciated at an international level, especially in America and in Germany. This book presents various photographs of the period and a series of
letters, never published up to now, revealing interesting aspects of the relationship between Meloni, and his collectors and critics.publiarq.com
