The avant-garde architect Theo Hotz has
been devising facades since the 1950s.He
was responsible for enlarging the possibilities
of the "curtain wall" - aesthetically, technically and functionally. His buildings are designed to make architecture graspable, and they have had a major influence on contemporary architecture.
One example presented in this monograph
is the office building and training centre in Geroldswil near Zurich, which he designed for Weishaupt AG. In this glass-and-steel structure, the ecological, constructional and physical aspects are linked intelligently, clearly displaying the progress of functional modern architecture.
The building unites the contemporary with the visionary, forming a synthesis between technological, spiritual and cerebral endeavour.
This outstanding piece of industrial architecture
is presented in a large number of full-page illustrations with an accompanying text. The publication package also includes a CD with information on the building's services technology.
