Buildings by the architect duo Ortner & Ortner convey a new dynamic in the constructed city.
This book documents their less grand and less spectacular, yet all the more interesting urban projects from the years 2001 - 2009, focusing on those from the past two years. Many of the 55 examples are published here for the first time.
Laurids Ortner describes the motivation behind this book, which was designed by the architects themselves, thus: What is neglected in innumerable publications about architecture, and indeed repudiated, is the built city and everyday buildings. They are, however, fundamental in the functioning and atmosphere of the city. Almost unperceived, they define the scenery and mood that can so completely captivate us in films.
