In the history of architecture of the 20 century, lvrea is synonymous with one of the most important experiments on the part of Italian public and private enterprise, associated with the name of Adriano Olivetti. An exciting experience for Italian architectural and townplanning culture which found in the srnall world of Olivetti, and in the various places in which the industrialist from Piedmont invested, the chance of building a true industrial society. In the 'thirties, Olivetti started to renovate ita industrial production, implementing the suggestions arising from international experience in the field, policies of product distribution and reorganizing the territory. The book follows the history of this important Italian company, emphasizing the role played by the factory in developing new architectural languages and new fields of work and experimentation for tallan architects and townplanners after the Second World War: Figini and Pollini, Luigi Piccinato, Ludovico Quaroni, Ignazio Gardella, Marcello Nizzoli and Eduardo Vittoria helped to shape the "concrete community" imagined by Olivetti in the form of individual works that were destined to become fundamental milestones of their personal art.
