NL989900 contains a selection of work by NL Architects from the period 1998 - 2000. It is the follow-up to .NL T/M WOS 8 which took a compact look at the favorite projects prior to the completion of their first building in 1998. The cover of .NL T/M WOS 8 was a logo: the removable, customized bumper sticker (the dot indicating their love for the digital highway as well). But since NL Architects made their first steps into Europe now there is the blue version with the yellow stars: Euro NL! Where the first booklet could be red as a designed mini-manifesto, a set of strongly guided 'dreams', 'wishful thinking' (how to 'rescue' historic centers, how to absorb auto mobility in architecture and urbanism, how to merge suburb and landscape, how to logo urban functions, how to ricochet negative aspects of urban life within architecture?), the new booklet is about implementation. Which of the initial ideas could be actually realized? They are cloning and reanimating, stretching and bending, stacking and merging typologies in order to enhance existing conditions. In .NL989900 you'll find 'numerous projects in various stages of development'. There are interiors for a cinema, a Librarybarfurnitureshopbookstorelivingroomworkstationlobbysquare and a shop, several types of housing, integrated parking, a boiler house, a daycare center and an office building. At this moment the BasketBar is being completed. This is the first new building since WOS 8. And they gave birth to a monster: 3Vaas is the bizarre but fully functional outcome of an experiment to bring together 3 archetypal vases into one object in order to fit any bouquet. 3Vaas became the 3D-sybol for a period in which they were involved in ongoing research into how to manipulate the Existing into a previously unimagined reality
