With the exhibition, "Joan Miró. Schnecke Frau Blume Stern" (Snail Woman Flower Star) the Stiftung museum kunst palast presents the oeuvre of the Catalan artist, Joan Miró. In its universal poetry, it lent the art of the twentieth century unmistakable impulses and the stamp of a new artistic vocabulary that was received across the world.
The exhibition title is indicative. In the cosmos of the painter's imagery, the world continually mutates into new constellations out of enigmatic ciphers which are themselves forever re-articulated in changing forms. Outer reality passes through the alchemy of Surrealism to emerge as a universal and vital myth. Miró combines the Catalan landscape and tones of folklore as well as primitivism in his playful way with the Surrealists' strategies of the subconscious, dream and "automatic" expression.
