The name and office of Finn Geipel stand for an architecture of integration and collaboration. Interdisciplinary teams of experts from various fields -- not only architects, constructors and engineers such as Ove Arup, Werner Sobek and Andrew Sedgewick, but also sociologists, critics and philosophers -- assemble for each project, creating an architecture that is both deconstructionist and socially committed. This publication reflects their conceptual approach. A discussion of issues essential to progressive contemporary architecture such as the genealogy of architectural landscapes, the relationship between architecture and its surroundings, between building and politics, is followed by the presentation of Finn Geipel's projects and buildings over the past 10 years. These include the Nîmes arena canopy, the Metafort multimedia centre in Paris- Aubervilliers, the North-West Arc (an urban planning project) in Thessaloniki, and further projects under construction such as the transformation of submarine emplacements in St. Nazaire into a centre for cultural activity
