Riccardo Dalisi (Potenza, 1931) is among the most important contemporary Italian architects and designers. He graduated in architecture at the Politecnico of Naples and devoted himself to teaching at the academy; at the beginning of the Seventies he abandoned the educational activity to devote himself to pedagogical operations in Naples, especially in the poorest quarters. His activity at close contact with people, the organization of performances and creative re-usage of salvage materials have been the starting point of his experience within Global Tools, the famous association of vangard designers founded in Italy in the Seventies. This book, divided into six different thematical sections (Disegnare l'aria, Espressionismo magico, Sculture, Gennarielli, Omaggi and Paladisi), presents a rich anthology of works created by Riccardo Dalisi between 1992 and 2002. Tin angels, copper clouds, papier-mâché chairs, wrought iron little devils, steel wire
faces, the result of a genial 'child' fancy and an incredible manual ability, create a sort of wonderland, or to say it in artistical terms of 'magic' Merzbau. All the works presented reveal the absolute originality in Dalisi's ludic approach to art, adesigner theorizing 'unpredictable architecture' and 'designing without thinking'.publiarq.com
