Over recent years, the concept of the traditional winery has evolved to include integrated visitor centres and guesthouses. This issue of A+U introduces eight contemporary projects that exhibit this transformation, including Renzo Piano's LA Rocca Winery, Álvaro Siza Vieira's Adega Mayor Winery and Tall and Taller's Vale d'Algares Winery. Accompanying the projects are several essays and a brief overview of some 70 other recently built wineries from around the world.
