The book provides a complete history of the factory spanning 200 years of production. From its establishment in 1744 under Empress Elizabeth and the first decorated snuff boxes in 1752 the production of porcelain continued under Catherine II and then Paul I until 1801. Illustrations in this section show the superb quality of the wares such as the Arabesque service modelled by Rachette. The following 70 pages take us through the 19th century with figures by Pimenov & Spiess, landscapes by Swebach and Stoleov and fabulous services such as the Guryevski service shown in full dining room setting at the Peterhof Palace. Then follows the Bisque and coloured figures, enamel painted Easter eggs and other decorated wares before we reach the 1920 revolution. Large sections on the 1930's through to the early 1990's complete the picture with bibliographies of artists and illustrations of marks.
