The history of living is at the same time the (cultural) history of a city: from the rural settlement by the Celts to the social housing of the present. Political and economic developments as well as social norms are reflected in forms of living that are increasingly being questioned critically at the end of the 20th century and, under the influence of international developments, lead to today's diversity of society and housing.
Wolfgang Förster presents his new book 2000 Years of Living in Vienna and thus explores the question of how the socio-cultural history of a city can be told through the development of living.
