Vasco Araujo is part of a new generation of Portuguese artists for whom art is conceptual, multidisciplinary and polysemic, and a means for constructing thoughtprovoking narratives. In his productions Araujo tells stories that deal with the human condition, the complexity of the individual, the social dimensions of seduction and the games played by the powerful. Using the landscape, myths and famous operas as narrative frameworks, he examines cultural stereotypes in relation to individuals who are socially marginalized because of different cultural beliefs.
