This volume is part of the series Nicodemus Tessin the Younger. Sources, Works, Collections
Nationalmuseum and The Swedish Museum of Architecture 2002
Tessin drafted this treatise in 1717, but it has remained unpublished until now. Basing his text on his extensive travel and study throughout Europe, but especially in Rome and Paris, Tessin considers painted decoration, collections of works of art, tapestries and other wall hangings, furniture, and other aspects of the interiors of palaces and aristocratic houses. Eighty engravings, most of them from Tessin's own collection, supplement his descriptions. Three introductory essays, annotations, a glossary, and critical indexes support the text.
