This book offers a visual tour of the three most representative palaces of the house of Alba: those of Liria in Madrid, Las Dueñas in Seville, and Monterrey in Salamanca, and by the summer residences of the family in Ibiza (S'Aufabaguera) and San Sebastián (Arbaizenea).
All these houses, where are preserved valuable works of art, have been personally decorated by Maria del Rosario Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart y Silva, XVIII Duchess of Alba, current head of the noble house. Duchess herself was also the architect of the rebuilding of the Palace of Liria after its almost total destruction in the Civil War, of works which were carried out between 1948 and 1956, and of the recovery of all its artistic heritage dispersed because of the war.
This publication, coordinated by Naty Abascal, with texts by professor and architect Rafael Manzano, provide us with an architectural sketch of each of the buildings and provide us with a guide for our journey through large format photographs expressly taken for this publication by the recognized photographer Ricardo Labougle, along with other images from the personal album of the Duchess which complete this unique vision of Cayetana de Alba's most beloved houses.
