A selection of articles by M B Littauer and J H Crouwel, written between 1963 and 1996 and primarily concerned with wheeled vehicles and transportation in the ancient world. They discuss the construction of vehicles, particularly chariots, the ways draught animals were harnessed and controlled, and the uses to which the various forms of transportation were put. They consider evidence from the Near East, Egypt, Cyprus and Bronze Age Greece, including the actual remains of vehicles and bridles, artistic representations and literary references.
