Harry Gugger and Christine Binswanger joined the office as Partners in 1991 and 1994 respectively, followed by Robert Hösl and Ascan Mergenthaler in 2004, and Stefan Marbach in 2006. Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron were born in Basel, Switzerland in 1950. They studied architecture at ETH Zurich, Switzerland 1970-1975. Harry Gugger was born in Grezenbach, Switzerland in 1956. He apprentised as an instrument mechanic 1973-1977, and studied architecture at ETH Zurich and Columbia University New York, N.Y., USA 1984-1989. Christine Binswanger was born in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland in 1964. She studied in architecture at the ETH Zurich 1984-1990. Robert Hösl was born in Bonndorf, Germany in 1965. He studied architecture at TU Berlin, Germany 1984-1993. Ascan Mergenthaler was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1969. He studied architecture at Universität Stuttgart and The Bartlett, UCL, London, UK 1990-1997. Stefan Marbach was born in Zurich, Switzerland in 1970. He studied architecture at HTL Muttenz 1993-1997 and held a scholarship at Kungliga Tekniska Hogskolan Stockholm in 1994.
