With the main focus on the work of Jackson Pollock, this exhibition concerns itself with aspects of gestural or abstract expressionistic painting between 1945 and 1965. On view with works by the New York painter are those by 25 artists including Arshile Gorky, Wols, Morris Louis, Sam Francis, Pierre Soulages, Lee Krasner, Franz Kline, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, Kazuo Shiraga and Cy Twombly. The exhibition investigates the difference between European and American approaches.
