Resumen del libro
I contributi del volume rispecchiano la statura europea del grande protagonista Albrecht Dürer, la molteplicità dei modi nei quali la sua arte fu recepita in Italia ed Europa, così come la sua apertura verso gli influssi italiani sia sul piano teorico che su quello pittorico e iconografico.
La diffusione di una nuova arte rinascimentale europea si deve alla fusione di modi di vedere e di tecniche nordiche con quelli italiani compiutasi nella mente di un artista che, viaggiando, superò le frontiere e scoprì la luce e i colori di Venezia. Ma Dürer portava già con sé la conoscenza
delle incisioni italiane, in particolare di Mantegna, una visione della statuaria antica e le nozioni di proporzione indagate da Leonardo. Assetato di nuove conoscenze e pieno di ingegno sperimentale, egli aggiunse a questi discorsi la sua voce meditata e innovativa di poliedrico autore di trattati, studi geometrici, disegni, stampe e dipinti.
Una figura senza confini mentali che non finisce di interessare artisti e storici, ragione per la quale le ricerche qui pubblicate si devono a studiosi italiani, tedeschi, austriaci, spagnoli, inglesi e americani che formano un coro poliglotta, caratteristico per la storia dell'arte internazionale e per l'Europa.
