Parrish Art Museum holds one of the largest public collections of William Merritt Chase in the United States, with over forty paintings and works on paper. Its extensive archive contains over 1,000 photographs relating to the life and work of the artist, in particular family photographs of summers spent near the Parrish on Long Island's famous East End. It was here that Chase taught at the Shinnecock Hills Summer School of Art in Southampton, and where he produced some of his most iconic landscape work.
This new volume features thirty of the Parrish's most important paintings and works on paper, and is an invaluable addition to our understanding of his art and working methods.
