Last spring (2004), ARCAM approached a large number of architects to ask them whether they still take a pencil to hand in the computer age. In other words, do they still make sketches? A large number of designers Ð both young and old, well-known and less well-known, mostly Dutch but also including Antonio Cruz from Spain Ð replied affirmatively and offered to lend us some of their original material. This enabled us to put on the exhibition Door de architect getekend, which was on show at ARCAM from April to June. The exhibition was not just interesting but infectiously cheerful. Perhaps this was why there was an immediate demand for an exhibition book
