The Faculty of Architecture of the Delft University of Technology is recognized as one of the most dynamic and innovative research and design schools in Europe. It is also one of Europe's largest and most internationally oriented schools to provide architectural education at university level. Its research and education programmes cover a wide variety of planning, design, construction and management of the built environment. The Architecture Annual offers a selection of articles on the school's progress in research and education. Covering a range of topical issues, it includes a cross section of the research done by faculty members and the graduation projects carried out by students in the academic year 2002-2003. This year saw the introduction of a new organization in which research and education are directly related. This and a number of key events - Indesem, The Body in Architecture, the first Rotterdam Architecture Biennale - played an important role in faculty life and will be reflected upon in this publication. The Faculty plays a leading part in Dutch architecture, urbanism and planning. Its graduation projects never fail to provide a new angle on design. This makes the Annual inspiring reading and a rich source of information for all those concerned with the built environment
