Resumen del libro

Having worked for eight years, in Paris, for the first time, in September 1955, Le Corbusier publishes Le poème de langle droit for the Verve editions promoted by the publisher Tériade. This important art book was one of several other famous efforts which had the intention of fuelling the debate in favor of 'a new synthesis of the arts, and, to this end, during the same years, the catalogue of the Parisian publisher also published works by other writers such as Lèger, Matisse and Picasso. Almost 50 years later, Electaarchitettura is publishing an anastatic edition of the volume, which faithfully reproduces the beauty and the preciousness of the original, enhanced by a transcription and a translation of the text.
The book was conceived in parallel with Le Modulor (1950 and 1955) during the years of post-war reconstruction, with the aim of forging a new synthesis between architecture and plastic arts, in the light of a gradual maturing of his ideas about the sublime nature of space.
The book ends with a historical and critical essay by Juan Calatrava who compares what we read and observe in the Poéme with Le Corbusiers greatest post-war masterpieces, Ronchamp and Chandigarh.
